Our Safeguarding Commitments

As an organization, we are committed to creating a culture and environment based on principles of fairness, equality, respect and non-discrimination; and committed to preventing any type of unwanted behavior at work including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, lack of integrity and financial misconduct. NPI expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment through our code of conduct. We place a high priority on ensuring that only those who share and demonstrate our values are recruited to work for us. NPI also knows that if it guards the safety of its people and the communities it serves, its peacebuilding work will be more effective.

NPI mourns the suffering of victims and survivors, abhors the sexual harassment and the violence. Beyond and above that, NPI is committed to helping victims / survivors in the best way it can. NPI acknowledges that it has, in the past, not done enough to assess the eligibility of candidates from safeguarding perspective and sincerely apologizes for any associations deemed inappropriate. However, since early 2020, a criminal background check as well as a background check against NHRC list of rights’ abusers are mandatory in our recruitment process, and also in selection process of program / project partners and consultants..
